Chilli Sauces

Happy Chrimbo/Hannuka/Xmas/Christmas and whatever the heck else people celebrate/call it during the yuletide season, I know I usually say “I’ve got a cracking review for you all today” but this time I haven’t just got a cracking review, I have what could be the ULTIMATE chrimbo gift for Chilli headz, and whaddya know, it comes from the UK’s answer to Blair, our very own Gerald Fowler of The Chilli Pepper Company!!

Heart Throb from The Chilli Pepper Company

Heart Throb from The Chilli Pepper Company

Gerald has created a one of a kind artisan sauce, for those of you who like your collectors items, wrap your peepers round this, because its a doozy!!

Ingredients: Trinidad Scorpion and Naga Viper Chilli, Tomatoes, Vinegar, Spices, Chilli Flavour.

Review bottles kindly supplied by Ged over at www.chileseeds.co.uk

Okay let me just start this by saying that “Heart Throb” is by no means the hottest sauce the CPC has ever done, oh noooooo that particular badge belongs firmly on the chest of “15 Minute Burn”, but this is by far the sauce that CPC has that covers both heat and flavour in equal measures so you could say (and I quote) that this is their hottest and tastiest sauce yet so its the hottest of their tasty sauces!

The packaging is nothing short of fooking legendary, I thought i had seen it all, but this sauce comes in a heart shaped bottle with an oldschool style pop top, the label hanging around its neck from gold thread like a medallion of bragging rights, this one is a definite collectors bottle, its the sort of thing you’d see in a major sauce fans collection for hundreds of dollars…BUT! This is the UK we’re talking about…and its the CPC so you KNOW its not gonna be THAT expensive I think at this point I’ll let my video do the talking, to give you an idea of the flavour and heat of this one, take a look at this…

What did I tell you?? Its warm, but its not off the charts its tasty, but its got a kick like a proverbial mule! But go ahead and do a dessert spoon of it and you WILL regret it, this stuff is best used sparingly, add it to dips and sprinkle on chips, chuck a bit in your chilli or mix it in to a curry whatever you do with you’ll enjoy it, and that's the main part!

The sauce comes in three varieties and as such, commands three different price tags:

  1. Heart Throb sauce boxed in LTD edition bottle: £5
  2. Heart Throb sauce boxed in LTD edition bottle with wax sealed vial of 1 million shu oleoresin: £10
  3. Heart Throb sauce boxed in LTD edition bottle with wax sealed vial of 15 million shu pure crystal extract (also a collectors item and worth £12 on its own!): £15

If you want my advice, and you know a big hot sauce fan head on over to www.chileseeds.co.uk and get em the deluxe £15 edition to put on display and the £5 edition for them to actually taste the sauce (because it really does have to be tasted!) and they’ll love you forever, trust me, ANY chilli fan will be happy with this in their collection, in fact I’d be extremely surprised to meet any chilli head who DOESN’T want a bottle of this, then of course I’ll give em a slap so they come to their senses!!

Anyway, happy yule my chile padawanz, and until we next meet, may the sauce be with you…always!!

The Chilli Pepper Company – naga-basco

by Thelurch on September 20, 2011

I have a bottle in my hand, a bottle with a picture of the Devil as the main image. There’s no doubt in my mind what that means; pain, heat and lots of it!

What it actually means is an attractive artistically labelled bottle of Naga-basco, a super-sized version of the similarly named mainstream version. As always Ged and the team have used great design to achieve yet another evil looking product.

The bottle itself has a similar shape and nozzle to allow the careful sprinkling of the liquid lava within (believe me you want full control of how much you use in one go) and it’s viscosity is similar too, it’s quite runny which enables the user to sprinkle accurately.

Ingredients: Vinegar, Naga Jolokia Chilli, Salt.

Bottle kindly supplied by The Chilli Pepper Company

Once the cap is removed, a quick wave under the nostrils reveals that tell-tale aroma of the Naga, although there are different variants of the Naga, they all have a similar, fruity, powerful scent when processed. This sauce uses Naga Jolokia and by the looks of it, lots of them! The Naga Jolokia Chilli comes in at just over 1m SHU (Scoville Heat Units)

Right taste time, I pour out enough to fill a teaspoon and even before it reaches my mouth, my nose picks up the vinegar and Naga fruitiness, then it’s in.

The first impression as I move the sauce around my mouth is an unexpected slight sweetness, and then the sourness of the vinegar comes through, then the burn starts and builds steadily but not uncomfortably, so I don’t need to rush to the fridge for milk!

It’s a pleasant burn but don’t get me wrong, it’s still very hot as the label suggests and for those not used to Naga’s should still take care.

To sum up, this is a very nice sauce which can be used to spice up just about any food you want from pizza to salad. The 140ml Bottle should last a while too.

15 Minute Burn

Good morning my chilli padawanz!! How is the sauce treating you all today? Good to hear it!! Right, my sauce review today comes from a man who is most famous for growing the current “Worlds hottest chilli” in the Guinness book of records, I’m talking about Gerald Fowler of course!

The sauce I have for review doesn't contain any naga viper but it does contain Bhut Jolokia and whole bucket load of heat! Obviously Ged needs no introduction as he is infamous by now and well known at many a show for always bringing some of the HOTTEST sauces on earth with him, this particular review was quite special so I decided to film it with my friend Richard “Sticky” Coombes, and with Mrs Naga behind the camera this was sure to be a damn good video, read on and find out how it all went!!

Well with a sauce this fookin mental where do I start? The sauce comes in a 30ml bottle in limited edition packaging, which consists of a nice plastic case and some shredded red paper, its a perfect thing to show off in you sauce collection, the bottle has a nice white label on it with a double mushroom cloud and the words “Pocket Rocket, 15 minute burn” as well, the ingredients are down the side of the bottle as well as a warning too.. and trust me this sauce bloody well needs a warning!!

The sauce inside is a very deep red, with swathes of blood red extract running through it, so before you open this you KNOW its going to be murder in a bottle! But that didn't stop me and Sticky from going all out with this sauce, in fact i don’t think I need to talk about it much more, check out the video below and you draw your own conclusions!!

So there you have it, Sticky is truly now a Chilli Padwan who was taken from one extreme to the other and took it like a fookin CHAMP! I have never met a guy who has never eaten anything remotely hot in his life and doesn't even eat kormas, to then come and do a video review with me of what is quite possibly the hottest sauce I own!! A true legend in the making there, oh and he’s also expressed and interest in doing more reviews with me MUAHAHAHAHAHA its fun being a Pith Lord ;)

You can buy a bottle of this right now for £4.00 over at www.chileseeds.co.uk, I know I said £6 in the video but I didn't realise Ged was doing this at such a BARGAIN price!! You’d pay a lot more for a much milder sauce in a lot of places, but if you want a sauce that will annihilate your palate and serve as a perfect test for those friends who “can handle anything hot” then this is perfect for them!!

Until next time my chilli padawanz, may the sauce be with you, always!!

Darth Naga Vs 16 Million SHU pure crystal Capsaicin!

by Darth Naga on December 7, 2010

Good day my chile padawanz!! I have noticed that lately Hot Juan has been posting up his “Xmas gifts for chileheadz” bit every other day…well here's a cracker for you Item #666: 16 Million SHU pure crystal capsaicin extract! Now, this particular gift should probably top the list tbh, as in February next year this stuff becomes ILLEGAL to sell/import/export in its purest (crystal) form in the UK! So now is the time to grab the ULTIMATE gift for your favourite chilehead, and you can grab it from none other than Ged Fowler over at www.chileseeds.co.uk at a bonanza price of only £10 for a vial of the stuff.

Below is a video of me trying this stuff dissolved in vodka (as that's the only way to get the heat out of it) so in theory there’s enough crystal in the vodka (one vial!!) to make it stupidly out of this world HOT!! For your viewing pleasure:

So there you have it! The hottest product on planet earth, there is literally nothing hotter, and while i would recommend doing what i did, it certainly make s a unique gift for the chilehead who has everything, so to speak! Please please PLEASE DO NOT try this at home, I used gloves, I make myself sick on purpose to get this out of my system, I wouldn't have let this pass through me as its way to dangerous, hence why its being banned as from February 2011, so grab a vial of this NOW for only £10 over at www.chileseeds.co.uk.

Until next we meet my padawanz, may the sauce be with you, always!

Naga Viper 2nd Hottest Chilli in the World

30ml Bottle Naga Viper Sauce Limited Edition

EU orders for Naga Viper Chilli Sauce £3.50

Rest of the World orders for Naga Viper Chilli Sauce £4.50 including additional postage

Measured at 1,382,118 SHU’s (Scoville Heat Units). Our new hot chilli is called  Naga Viper.

We have produced something really special here and it has taken us a while.  In fact it has taken us over two years.  The reason for that is that it is based on a new chilli that we are currently developing, the Naga Viper.

Our Naga Viper has been tested as the hottest chilli in the world, although we are still in the process of ensuring that what we have will be consistently the hottest.  Warwick HRI, who have an established name in the testing of chilli heat levels, say that it is the hottest chilli they have ever tested, using the World Standard dried chilli testing protocol.

We couldn’t resist incorporating some of the early fruits of this exciting development into this brand new sauce.  The idea is to deliver blistering heat, without the inevitable disadvantages of unpleasant smell and taste associated with the use of traditional chilli extracts.  And we are confident that this is what we have achieved.

And the sauce is…

Extremely hot – just under one million Scoville Heat Units

Very, very tasty – if you can cope with the heat

Unique – second batch of this fantastic new sauce

Hellooooo my chile padawanz!! Today I am reviewing a sauce that is made from the now infamous “Naga Viper” chilli, its made by my good friend Ged from The Chilli Pepper Company, and he’s tried to keep this sauce as simple as possible so that people can appreciate the full on heat and flavour that comes with the Naga viper, and as you all know from my pod test a week or so ago, this particular chilli is really bloody hot!! Anyway, without further ado lets kick this review off shall we?

Ingredients: Bhut Jolokia, Naga Viper Chilli and Vinegar.

Review bottle supplied by Ged over at www.chileseeds.co.uk

Well there’s a rarity in the chilli world, a sauce that contains only 3 ingredients! well if you know Ged as well as I know him, you’ll also know that there reason behind this is a simple but effective one! He has done this so as to let the flavour and heat of the naga viper shine through and not be marred or possibly tainted by other flavours along the way, I’m sure Ged will be making other sauces based on the Naga Viper chilli and using different flavours but for now this is to let people get a taste of the Naga Viper chilli as pure as possible without tasting the actual pods themselves (which are rare atm!)

The sauce is simply called “Naga Viper”.. now a lot for you are probably thinking “Hmm Darth has reviewed a sauce called naga viper before” and you’d be absolutely right! BUT Ged decided to change some things round a bit after he and i had a conversation awhile back, i suggested that maybe Ged should change the naga viper sauce he was selling at the time to the “Terminator” sauce he was also marketing at the time, mainly to avoid confusion and also because the name was more fitting, Ged seemed to have agreed with me as he has now changed the name of the “Terminator” sauce to “Naga Viper” (soooo all those people who bought “Terminator” at West Dean, you have the same sauce as I tested here today, but as luck would have it those bottles are now limited edition as they no longer exist!!).

Anyway, I could go on about the bottle and such but please watch my video review to get the full lowdown on this cracking sauce!

So there you have it! this sauce is without a doubt one of the HOTTEST natural sauces to date, it is up there among the greats, putting us on the map as one of the best hot sauce producers in the world!! You need to get your arses over to www.chileseeds.co.uk right now and grab a bottle of this for £6 while its still at this mad price, its in very limited quantities so I would grab a bottle while you still can chilefanz!!

As another review comes to its conclusion I can only say that I hope you all have an awesome time with this sauce, and may the sauce be with you, always!!!

Be Damned Chilli Sauce

What customers say about our Be Damned Sauce

Hi, Received my bottle of Be Damned and brought it into work today.  A few of us have prepared some food and are noted Chilli lovers.  Working in China for a long while has somewhat accustomed us to hot stuff but this little beauty  is something very special.  We made a nice 3 bean soup and to be safe added a large teaspoonful.  When the first spoonful goes in you are expecting it to be painful but it isn’t until 3...2...1.. BOOM, wow what an intense burn (everyone who has already had it falls about laughing at the next victim).  Extremely sharp in nature and unlike any other sauce I have tried.  The heat builds and builds and soon we were all suffering, you know the signs, nose running, sucking air through your lips and sweating.  It really is like licking the tail pipe of a drag racing car.  Full marks guys this truly is a hot sauce and one that will be worshipped.  Bring it on!

Message: Be Damned? How apt the name! As a veteran of the super-hot chilli sauce brigade I approach new supposed self-proclaimed super-hot chilli sauces with a little care and a degree of scepticism....

I carried out my usual first taste test - a smear from the inside of the lid on the tip of a finger straight on the tongue, and Be Damned....

This little monkey does all it sets out to - it tastes superb for the 3 seconds it takes for the heat to kick in and then I was in pain...serious pain...nose running...dribbling...all the usual suspects! I don't know what the average SHU rating on this is, but it's way hotter than Satan's Blood, Blair's Sudden Death, Blair's 3am or even Naga Snake Bite, Cobra Juice, Pure Venom Reserve! The likes of Dave's Insanity Sauce aren't even on the same planet!

Seriously, it's like putting a flame-thrower in your mouth and pulling the trigger just for fun! Absolutely magnificent! Congratulations to you guys at The Chilli Pepper Company for effortlessly beating the Yanks at their own game :-) 10/10

The Chilli Pepper Company — 10 Minute Burn Review

By Hot Juan, January 9, 2010 9:47 am The Chilli Pepper Company —10 Minute Burn

The Chilli Pepper Company - 10 Minute BurnOkay where to start? This is my first video review since the new year started and OMFG I couldn't have started it with a bigger bang if i’d have tried! This sauce today comes from our good friends at the “Chilli pepper company” and I have to say this is EASILY the hottest sauce they sell and its a f*****g corker!! Ged developed this sauce to compete in the ever growing “Ultra death kill ya stupidly over the fookin' top” hot sauce category and I have to say it holds its own rather well, but enough of this, lets crack on eh?

Ingredients: Fresh naga bhut jolokia, pineapple juice, vinegar, lemon juice, tomatoes, mango, molasses, 7.3 million chilli extract, celery, herbs, spices.

There ya go, that's it, no additives or anything, 100% natural ( I count extract as a natural substance, some don’t) in fact its the Naga’s and extract that give “10 Minute Burn” its super natural heat level, but more on that in a moment. This sauce is the one that we wrote an article about here: It was banned from the September 09 FFUK show for being “too hot” and as the interview shows people passed out and had reactions to it, thus it was BANNED!!

And now, of all people I get given a bottle of this to do a review of, I'm scared to say the least, but I like to think that I'm crazy and stupid enough to take on ANYTHING in the Hot sauce world, so without any more distractions here it is!

This sauce comes in a lovely little square glass bottle that to me is very ornamental, it has a simple label on it that is adorned with flames and skulls (that look like they are screaming incidentally!) The sauce inside is a swirl of light red and dark red faint lines with seeds suspended in the sauce here and there, there are also 2 clear warnings on the rear, one says “Once eaten this will really hurt” and the other says “use to add heat to your cooking, do not ingest directly” but as the following video shows, I paid NO ATTENTION to these warnings, HA!

Soooooooooooooooo as you can see.. I pretty much died right there! The sauce, as I tried my best to point out, has a lovely sweet fruity flavour for a few seconds, and that's what took me by surprise! After smelling the sauce and smelling only Naga peppers and extract I was sure this would only taste of extract and that the heat would blow me away instantly but it didn't… the heat was masked amazingly by the fruit present in the sauce, the initial sweet taste made me let my guard down and then the pain crawled out from under my tongue and OWOWOWOWOW it hit me hard!!

I’m not over exaggerating when I tell you it was like being punched in the mouth by Satan himself, my lips swelled a little and I started sweating immediately, it was a sharp stinging, burning sensation coupled with the uncontrollable hiccups and my eyes streaming as if I had just been kicked in the plums!!

So there you have it, the Infamous and Notorious “10 minute burn” officially reviewed by yours truly, if you like INSANE amounts of heat in pretty much anything then I recommend you give this bottle of life altering sauce a go, the endorphin rush is well worth the burn, I promise you that much! “10 minute burn” is available from www.chileseeds.co.uk at a wallet pleasing £7.00 for 100ml, but for those of you thinking that 100ml for 7 quid isn't a lot, trust me it will last a while, unless of course you’re a head case and put it on everything you eat!! Grab a bottle while its hot people, because at that price I'm not sure Ged will have it in stock for long, and after the chilli festivals hit, and this sauce rockets in popularity its gonna become rare!!! SO GRAB IT NOW!!!

Until next time my chile fanz, hope you had a great new year, and as always may the sauce be with you!!!

Thanks very much for a helpful and speedy service - all items arrived safe and in pristine condition.

Review by The ChileFoundry http://www.chilefoundry.co.uk/

Witches Brew

Right chile fanz, its been a while since I wrote a review but that's not to say I'm rusty, ohhhhh no! I’m still in fine reviewing form and have been munching all manner of chilli related just to make sure my taste buds stay ruined! Even if my taste buds were completely shot to bits I would still be able to taste the sauce I am reviewing today, it comes all the way from Cumbria, from our good friend Gerald Fowler of “The Chilli Pepper Company” (who from here on in I shall refer to as “CPC” for ease of reading :o )without further ado lets get on with it!!

I would have to start off by saying that “Witches Brew” is classified as hot, simply because in my eyes it is hotter than most of the so called “hot” supermarket sauces out there today, its in a similar vein to “8 Ball” that I reviewed a while back in that its a perfect sauce to break unto the underground chilli culture with, due to its mid range heat level.

The bottle itself is typical of the CPC range and comes with a high gloss label on the front, complete with title and a strange grey looking witch stirring a cauldron! I do enjoy seeing Ged’s new labels when they come out as they are always fun to see, the sauce inside this bottle is a lovely red colour with flecks of black, bits of pepper flesh and the occasional seed floating about in the liquid!

“Witches Brew” isn't a thick sauce, its more of a pouring sauce that would be good poured into stews and curries as its very easy to stir in and becomes dispersed very quickly, allowing for a nice even flavour throughout whatever you are cooking it in, you could also hold your thumb over the top of the bottle allowing for a tiny gap and liberally sprinkle this one over salad or chips and many other things, just make sure to wash ya hands afterwards!!

Upon opening the bottle the smell of scotch bonnets entered my olfactory senses and gave them a little kick along with the vinegar, I couldn't detect the cinnamon or garlic in the smell from the sauce, but as we all know, the real experience comes from the taste, so not expecting this to be too hot for me I simply lifted the bottle to my lips and took a hearty mouthful!

The flavour of the peppers hit me first, a beautiful fruity and savoury flavour all at once, then the cinnamon came and after swishing it round and swallowing, there was a very pleasant garlicky aftertaste, the heat was very unexpected, my hiccups started about 30 seconds after the first mouthful, and only got worse after the second.

The heat from this is one that definitely hits good and hard, making the tongue throb a little and keeping the mouth warm, not a heat that stays for very long so obviously you have to eat more of it ;) It has a flavour that reminded me of “Tabasco” but there was something else, in fact if “Tabasco” and “Encona Caribbean Original” made love, I think that “Witches Brew” would be the offspring, in such a way that it brings the flavours of both those sauces together in one amazingly flavoured hot sauce.

“Witches Brew” is available exclusively from www.chileseeds.co.uk and is priced as a measly £4.50 for a nice sized 140ml bottle, I think at this time of year its a perfect winter warmer and would make and excellent present for someone who likes hot sauce but has never bought a “proper” one before! I would definitely buy a bottle of this, and depending on what you use it in I think you’ll probably be coming back for more as you might go through it a little quicker than you realise!

Until next time my chile padawanz, may the sauce be with you, always!

140ml Bottle Of Witches Brew Hot Chilli Sauce £4.50

Darth Naga http://www.chilefoundry.co.uk/ ReviewsChilli Pepper Company - Naga Mama

Chilli Pepper Company’s Naga Mama

Ahhh its Monday evening and I’ve done my work for the day now to sit down and do something I really enjoy, reviewing hotsauce!!

The sauce I have today comes from a friend of mine who runs the “Chilli Pepper Company” his name is Gerald Fowler and I am sure that those of you who have been to at least one chilli festival last year will have met the man himself, he’s a larger than life guy who really loves the burn and everything associated with it, he’s tried all his sauces himself even the fabled “10 minute burn” that was banned from the FFUK last year, so when I say this man knows his chilli’s I’m putting it mildly!!

So here we are, I have a bottle of one of Ged’s best selling sauces in my hand and am about to review it, “Naga Mama” is one of CPC’s flagship sauces, when the Naga started to become popular the UK a few years back, Ged jumped straight on it along with a lot of other chilli sauce producers and set about to create an all natural sauce that used this amazing chilli as a base for some wonderfully hot but tasty sauce and as a result “Naga Mama” was born. As always with the “Chilli pepper company” the label on this 140ml bottle is full colour and glossy, it has an interesting picture of a crest with a chilli on and a crown above that, all in lovely orange and black as you can see from the photo, I suspect Gerald had this one specially drawn up for this sauce!

The sauce itself is a nice bright orange with flecks of white here and there in the form of seeds, but the texture is very smooth and not lumpy at all, which makes for a good pouring sauce! Upon opening the bottle I noted a very sweet and tomatoey smell coming from the neck which I can only put down to the use of sweet fruits in the sauce, but perhaps they are used merely to take the slightly bitter edge off the Naga? (which I find is sometimes a problem for Naga based sauces, the bitterness overwhelming the final product)

I poured some out onto my spoon and gave it my usual sniff before placing the spoon on my tongue and doing my best to ascertain the flavours present. Surprisingly, considering its sweet smell this was quite a savoury sauce and was abundant with both tomato and Naga pepper flavours and I have a feeling my initial judgement was correct and that the fruits had been used in this sauce to counteract the slight bitter taste that can sometimes be associated with the Naga pepper!

Again CPC has produced a fine Naga based sauce with a flavour that is unlike any of the other sauces they produce, its both slightly sweet and very savoury at the same time which makes this an excellent sauce for both pouring onto food and placing into everyday meals to spice things up a bit!!

And while this isn’t the hottest completely natural Naga based hotsauce on the market it still has a place among the best tasting ones, coupling a strong tomato base with the complexity of two different Naga’s makes for a very interesting sauce indeed!

Until next time my chile padawanz! may the sauce be with you, always!

What they say about our Naga Mama
  • Thanks very much for a helpful and speedy service - all items arrived safe and in pristine condition.  I write this to you an hour after receiving the goods - the Naga Mama and PPP do exactly what they say on the label, myself and two friends have already sampled the goods and we are unanimous in our opinion that the Naga Mama is the tastiest and hottest all-natural hot sauce we have yet tasted.  You have our extremely warm(!?) gratitude (though at this exact moment 'thanks' would be pushing it a bit considering the burn is only just starting to fade after 20 minutes!). Thanks to all involved, and we'll let you know how we get on with the plants.  We will definitely be reordering soon....

The Beast Review

By Darth Naga, The ChileFoundry December 11, 2009 10:02 am

Hello again chilefanz!! Darth Naga coming atcha like Cleopatra, once again! Its starting to get really bloody cold I've noticed, seeing as its winter and all this is the BEST time of year to start getting into hot sauces and other chilli related products, and if you’re interested in breaking into the “Very fookin hot” category of chilli sauces, then you should look at the sauce I have today. This sauce comes from our old friends at the “Chilli Pepper Company” (henceforth known as CPC) a group of people who over the time of reading the blog here at the ChileFoundry you’ll have come to love them as much as I do, and if not then where the heck have you been?!?

Ingredients: 13 fresh Naga Morich per bottle, Carrot, Mangos, Vinegar, Sugar, Herbs, spices

If you know CPC then you’ll know that the growing trend with their sauces is that they are pretty much all natural sauces with only a couple in their range containing extract, well this sauce falls under the “all natural” banner. “The Beast” as its known relies on the 13 Naga’s per bottle to give it the flavour and heat that it touts! The label is another of CPC’s beautifully crafted classy ones with the name of the sauce, an extremely pissed off looking demon and “Extremely Hot Chilli Sauce” emblazoned proudly across it, the bottle itself is the same as most of CPC’s range of sauces which is no bad thing as I swear Ged and co always put a little extra sauce into these bottles!

The sauce itself is a sort of burnt orange in colour, with flacks of red white and black suspended throughout and the texture is nice and chunky but easily pourable, in fact the look of it alone scares me a little as I know its ALL about the Naga in that bottle, and while the Naga is indeed my favourite pepper it's also blisteringly hot and causes me great pain LOL!

I undid the bottles cap and held it to my nose, allowing my olfactory senses a chance to decipher the ingredients *sniiiiiiiffff*.…Naga. That's it, seriously! I can just smell pure naga coming from this bottle and yet I threw caution into the wind and decided to swig straight from the bottle (mainly as I didn't have my tasting spoon to hand!) and WOW what a interesting turn of events that was!!

Like a sweet chilli sauce made for psycho’s the flavour of the mango pushed forward through the Naga’s and hit my tongue first, such an amazing flavour of sweet fruit, then came the savoury hit of Naga which was closely followed by a heat that made my tongue and lips burn very rapidly and then subsided a little and left me with a gentle tingling warmth that made me take another swig!!

This sauce is something different for me, I wasn't expecting the sweetness to be there and I'm definitely no fan of sweet chilli sauces at all, but I have to say between CPC and Mr Vikki I am starting to understand why sweet chilli sauces are so popular, “The Beast” is a name that conjures up images of stupidly hot sauce in my head but that's totally not the case, this sauce is hot don’t get me wrong but its also sweet and they balance each other out perfectly to make a unique sauce that has to be tasted to be believed!

The Beast Hot Sauce

13 Naga Morich Per Bottle Limited Edition One of the hottest natural chilli sauces on the market!

What They Say: "The Beast Limited Edition Chilli Sauce - There's only one bad thing about this sauce - it's a limited edition which means it won't be around forever! Which is a true shame because it is quite simply the best tasting chilli sauce I've ever come across. I've used a third of a bottle in 5 days! Fresh tasting, fruity start building to an almost meaty flavour and then finishing with a slow building genuine heat. Not super hot, just right to add a damned good kick to anything you care to eat it with. Tip: It's sublime with Wiltshire Honey roast Ham. 10/10 to The Chilli Pepper Company - they've done it again!"

Dragon’s Breath Review By http://www.chilefoundry.co.uk/

Dragons Breath

Its a Wednesday evening, I've just finished work only to get home and realise that I've been a little slack and must do a sauce review, then of course the difficulty comes in choosing what sauce to review, a quick look through past reviews and future bottles in front of me leads me to notice that I haven't covered a sauce from the “Chilli Pepper Company” for a while, so here it is! Ged at the Chilli Pepper Company is a mad northerner who delights in two things:

Making very tasty homemade sauces using the freshest ingredients for everyone to enjoy.

Attempting to kill me by way of the hottest sauces he can muster up.

Thankfully this is one of the former for a change, but don’t be fooled its not all fluffy pillows and candy floss, not in my world baby!!

Ingredients: tomatoes, fresh Bhut Jolokia, vinegar, onions, mangos, lemon juice, mustard, garlic, thyme, basil, turmeric.

“Dragon’s Breath” is a sauce that on first picking up I honestly didn't think would be that hot, even though Jolokia’s are on the list of ingredients there were plenty of other ingredients that I was sure would bring the heat down a couple of notches, perhaps even till it was barely noticeable.. I was wrong.

The bottle is one of the usual 140ml glass bottles that most of CPC’s sauces come in, this one is adorned with another of their high quality glossy labels, with the name of the sauce, the website and a blue dragon breathing fire on the front. It calls itself a “Deadly Hot Caribbean Chilli Sauce” but I t put off by this as a lot of “Caribbean” sauces claim to be “really hot” but they aren't! The sauce inside is quite a bright yellow with colourful flecks of black, red, green and white moving about as I gave the

I popped the cap and took a big sniff of the contents, straight off I could smell vinegar, apricots, garlic and mustard.. which is good as those are on the ingredients list LOL!  I grabbed my tasting spoon, looked at the bottle for a minute then chuckled and lifted the bottle to my lips taking a hearty swig of the stuff within… I soon learned this to be a HEINOUS oversight on my part and I was about to be taught a valuable lesson.

Usually I wouldn't judge a sauce without tasting it, but I saw this one as one of Ged’s milder sauces so I wasn't worried, I knew it would taste damn good, but the heat wouldn't be so bad, as expected the flavours that hit me instantly were mango and garlic, with a bit of pineapple, a smatter of mustard and a hint of Jolokia to keep even the most fussy “Flavour snobs” happy… then the heat kicked in, I wasn't expecting this so of course I lunged for my milk and after taking a large mouthful realised that this sauce gets it heat from the Jolokia, so I should have known better! It provides a strong burning sensation on the tongue, that transforms into an intense wave of heat that moves to the back of your throat and stays there for a little while!

Not a sauce to be laughed at, this one provides enough heat to keep hardcore chilli nutterz happy, but the flavour is definitely a Caribbean one and certainly tastes better than a lot of supposed “caribbean” sauces that primarily use scotch bonnets, this sauce dares to be a little different with it use of fiery Jolokia pepper blended brilliantly with different fruits to create a very fruity sauce. You’ll find no extract here as the burn is provided naturally by the Jolokias!!

You can buy a bottle right now over at www.chileseeds.co.uk for the low price of £5.50, and at that price I honestly have nothing more to say except buy it, and I promise you won’t regret it!!

Till next we meet my chilli friendz, have a hot one and may the sauce be with you!

140ml Bottle Dragons Breath Extreme Chilli Sauce £5.50

Piri Piri Chilli Sauce

This is an all round great sauce for, marinating chicken, using on grilled meats, especially tasty on steak before grilling, perfect heat to add a little interest to spaghetti bolognaise.

Mix with mayonnaise for a great dip to go with pre dinner drinks. Use on sandwiches, perfect for a bacon and sausage sandwich. This sauce is so tasty the list is endless.

Chilefoundry Review of Piri Piri Sauce

Hello again guys and gals, Scooby here bringing you another sauce review for the Chilefoundry. Today’s sauce is from The Chilli Pepper Company. I was first introduced to these guys the other week when myself and Scottie 2 Hottie were dragged in by Darth Naga to try 10 minute burn at West Dean Chilli Fiesta. With this in the back of my mind I'm thinking, ‘mmmmmm, these guys REALLY know how to make a good sauce, so lets see how this one goes down’.

The sauce is called Piri Piri and is quite delicate in colour compared to many chilli sauces on the market today. It is a lovely warming red colour with the odd spec of green red and white, which sets it off beautifully in the bottle.

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Lemon juice, Rice wine vinegar, garlic, onion, Kaffir lime leaves, herbs and spices and piri piri chilli.

Upon opening the bottle I get hit with an instant rush of tomatoes. (The smell I mean, not actual tomatoes hitting me as that would just be stupid) Behind the tomato smell I can just about make out a sweetness from the lemon juice and lime leaves as well as the garlic trying to get into the mix.

Anyway, out comes the teaspoon. This sauce just pours out onto the spoon. It is not completely smooth which is great and as it glides out of the bottle you can see more of this glorious red with a few sneaky seeds which have made it into the bottle which will definitely make a difference to the texture.

First taste, a very strong tomato flavour. This lasts for couple of seconds before this begins to take a seat at the back and let the sweetness from the lemon and lime come through. This also lasts for a few seconds before suddenly the tomato flavour jumps back onto my tongue and this time he has brought a friend, the piri piri chilli. The heat is mild and does not interfere with the flavour. Tongue has a very mild tingle, more of a warming than a tingle to be honest, but the flavour is awesome. The Chilli Pepper Company have definitely done their homework here on this sauce. The flavours keep taking their turns to sit on my tongue before swapping again whilst this mild heat sits there watching until it slowly fades.

I highly recommend this sauce for a summer bbq to marinate your meat, the only downside is that I cannot stop eating the sauce neat right now it is that good.
