Hello just wanted to let
you know I received my seeds and thought I would
give a testimonial:
My seeds came quickly and very well packaged. I
have been growing hot and sweet peppers from
seed for years and so once received, I did the
usual i.e.: soaked a couple hours in cup of warm
water with a teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide,
planted in a covered seed tray with a wicking
matt, placed on top of the warming pad and
topped with
fluorescents... but here is where my
surprise and a testament to the quality of these
seeds comes into play. Anyone who has grown
from seed knows it can take some time for them
to sprout, especially Habs and Bhuts. After
only seven days I was pleasantly surprised to
see hooks and a few leaves and by the next day I
had sprouts from all six varieties I had
purchased. The sprouts are sturdy and
growing well and thick, some of the nicest I
have seen. I could not be more pleased with
these seeds and it's good to know I have a
reliable place to buy my seeds with a great
selection of the varieties I enjoy.
Thanks for the great seeds and outstanding
customer service!
One happy customer

Yellow Bhut Jolokia
Experiment
We hope this yellow
Bhut Jolokia is
a mutation and not a cross
pollinated variety.
The Chile Pepper Institute explained to us
that a mutation is actually better than a cross as it allows the
original chilli to remain potent and unchanged in flavour and shape. The chilli
will have a
pungency level similar to the red Bhut Jolokia.
We will not know untill this lot of seeds is harvested and grown. Thanks
for becoming part of this exciting experiment, don't forget to send us
your yellow Bhut pictures and your names.
A
Yellow version of the World’s hottest chilli Bhut Jolokia, Capsicum chinense Jacq

Yellow Bhut Jolokia is a natural variant of

originating in Assam in North East India. The Bhut Jolokia is the
hottest chilli with an official Scoville heat rating (SHU) of 1,001,304
SHU twice that of the previous record holder, the Red Savina. Your chance to grow
one of the most original of the hottest chillies in the world and that's official! We are proud to stock
Yellow Bhut Jolokia. We are going to have it heat tested and we are
hoping that the heat level will be in the same region as the hottest chilli
in the world, the Bhut Jolokia, or even be hotter!

Cobincho
A rare
variety from the species
Capsicum Exile. A mature pod
is shown here. Seeds can be
difficult
to germinate but we found
putting them on a damp paper
towel, in a zip lock bag, in
a warm place works well.
Others have had success
wetting, then drying, then
wetting again. Once growing
the plant sprawls, stems are
very thin and the plant has
very small, delicate white
flowers. Not many pods in
the first year, but easy to
over winter indoors and
second year should be
covered in pods. Does not
grow very tall, makes an
attractive indoor plant.

Chiltepin
Heat Level 10+++
The Chiltepin/Tepin can be over wintered and re grown the following season. Referred to
as the "mother of all hot peppers" some say the chiltepin is even hotter than the Habanero. These tiny chillis can be dried and crumbled on top of food or added to soups, stews, salsas, chorizo or any dish where some heat and flavour is appropriate. Chiltepin are hard to find and hand harvested. Chiltepins are one of the few crops in the world which are harvested in the wild rather than cultivated. The Tarahumara Indians of the Sonoran Desert in Mexico believe that chiltepins were the greatest protection against the evils of sorcery. (Capsicum annuum)
Burkina Yellow Habanero

Fruit colour changes from light green to a striking yellow at full maturity. Pendant fruits. Plant is 55 to 65 cm high, light green foliage.

A traditional Italian variety that produces a
high yield of small, round fruits, on medium

increases the more it is exposed to the sun.

7 Pod / 7 Pot Chilli Seeds
The 7 Pod (sometimes called 7 Pot, as in 1 pod will spice seven pots of stew.) is a Chinense variety from Trinidad. This variety is matched for heat by just a small number of other Chinense varieties, namely the Bhut Jolokia, Bih Jolokia, the
Dorset Naga/Naga Morich, and the Trinidad Scorpion
(see above). The texture of the peppers is very different to your
average capsicum. Rather than the smooth, shiny surface of most peppers, the 7 pod has an almost paper-y texture and pods start lime green rather than the usual dark green. Seeds have been grown in Trinidad and not isolated so some cross pollination is possible and pure strain 7 pod cannot be guaranteed. Having said that, a 7 pod cross would be an even rarer
hot pepper so don't let that put you off trying this great variety.

The world’s hottest chilli is the Bhut Jolokia originating in Assam in North East India. This

Raja Mirch
- Naga Morich
This strain of Naga Morich is straight from
the hills surrounding Nagaland where Gordon
Ramsey visited a village of one the famous
Naga Warrior Tribes in his latest show.
The Naga Morich 'snake or serpent chilli' is one of the world's most respected
hot chilli peppers.
The heat
of chillies is due to the presence of a group of seven
closely related compounds called capsainoids, but capsaicin
(8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide) and dihydrocapsaicin are
responsible for approximately 90% of the pungency. The
Naga Morich has a high percent of these two compounds.
A sample of
fresh fruit of the rare Bangladeshi Naga Morich chilli was tested by Warwick University using HPLC and registered a
hot tongue numbing 1,598,227 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
To compare the Naga with the Bhut a HPLC test would need to
be carried out on a dry sample as for the Worldwide Standard
Sampling Techniques as was used to test the Bhut Jolokia. The figures
for a test carried out under the standard test situations are showing that the comparable heat is around the
800,000 to 900,000 SHU. These original Naga Morich seeds have not been grown by gardeners at home, these are the genuine Naga Morich. Naga Morich is
the closest relative to the Dorset Naga.
Currently original Naga Morich seeds are scarce, and Naga seeds
with proven provenance are even scarcer still. Our Naga
Morich seeds come from certificated germination and heat
tested stock. (Capsicum Chinense)

Piment d' Espelette Basque Chilli Peppers
AOC Piment d' Espelette Basque Chilli Peppers
Are you buying the genuine Piment d' Espelette Basque Hot Chilli Peppers?
Only Espelette Products Stamped With This Logo Are The Genuine Piment d 'Espelette AOC Powders, Seeds and Pods
Our basque d' espelette (Capsicum annuum) seeds are from what is considered the best pimento growing district in the Espelette Basque AOC area.
The Genuine Espelette pepper is grown only in 10 areas: Ainhoa, Cambo-les-Bains, Espelette, Halsou, Jatxou, itxassou, Larressore, Pée Saint-sur-Nivelle, and Souraïde Ustaritz.
Our Espelette Basque Chilli Pepper seeds are from the most prized growing area in the Piment D' Espelette Basque AOC.
Originally from South America, it seems that the pepper was imported in 1650 by a Basque navigator who accompanied Christopher Columbus. After years of studies and tests 2000 saw the recognition of the AOC Piment d' Espelette. The appellation was enhanced in 2002 by obtaining the European PDO, Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) This means that the seeds are protected and can only be grown in the areas mentioned above and is against the law to grow to sell seeds and name them as Espelette Basque Chilli Pepper Products/Seeds.
Basque chilli pepper production is managed by the Department of Fraud which guarantees the origin of the Espelette Basque Chilli Pepper pods, powder and seeds.
The Basque chilli pepper is more aromatic and sweet than hot. Espelette chilli peppers are tied with string the strings of peppers are hung in the kitchens to dry. Once dried they are ground to a powder which is very much prized around the world in the home and in many restaurant kitchens. In the kitchen, this spice substitute is for providing pepper spice and perfume to all your meals.
The chilli is used in Basque Cuisine to give taste to the simplest dishes such as omelettes, fried eggs, grilled sardines or salads…
Sprinkled on grilled goat or sheep cheese, the Basque chilli breathes out its blend of flavours. We always add a pinch of Espelette chilli powder in Basque recipes such as “piperade”, “axoa” or “marmitako”. Basque chilli can have a fruity tomato flavour or a dry hay scent, but what makes it special is the aromatic aspect of it, rather than its intensity.
Depending on the Summer the Espelette chilli pepper plant grows between 60cm and 1.5m high producing between 15 to 30 fruit per plant.

NuMex Suave Orange
Now this is a really special chilli pepper, back in stock by popular demand. Breed by the Chile Pepper Institute for people that enjoy the fantastic flavour of Habañero but not that much heat.
This chilli is the same family as a Habanero, Capsicum Chinense. The word "suave" is Spanish for mellow, smooth or mild. The Red Savina measures 577,000 SHUs, the hottest in the world and the Orange Suave measures 835 SHUs. The Chile Pepper Institute have developed these two chillies with all the flavours of the Habanero but less heat. These are must have chillies for cooks who like the taste of the Habanero. Capsicum Chinense have unique flavours but most people can not taste them because of the heat. The Suaves have a citrus like flavour with an orange lemony overtone with an apricot aroma.
The heat is in the back of the mouth and throat and not on the lips and tongue. Each plant can yield up to 100 fruits. (Capsicum Chinense)

Indian PC-1
Naga Jolokia????
Chilli Heat Level ???
This striking and very
useful hot chilli from Assam an area in
India close to the famous city of Tezpur,
renowned for bringing us some of the hot
varieties of chillies around. The chilli has
a cited heat level of 855,000 SHU but it is
very doubtful it holds this much
heat!!!! Probably it would be closer
to 100,000 SHU if, that. Lots of pepper seed
suppliers call it Naga Jolokia by mistake.
According to our informed local experts, the
chilli tested with a heat level of 855,000
SHU was actually the Bhut Jolokia which in
some parts of India is called Naga Jolokia,
Naga being an area and Jolokia meaning
Pepper or chilli. This was the hot
chilli tested with a recorded heat level of
855,000 SHU. Indian PC-1 is a Capsicum
annuum. As you can see from the photographs,
the Indian PC-1 chilli (AMKA also
mistakenly known as the Naga Jolokia)
actually bears no resemblance to the
Capsicum Chinense family to which all the
hottest varieties belong. This is no reason
not to grow it but please do not mistake it
for the similarly named but much hotter
Bhut/Bih Jolokia. You could always grow
it and prove us wrong
