The Ethiopian Berbere chilli is a heirloom Ethiopian chilli that features in many Ethiopian and East African dishes. The slender pods mature from green to mahogany brown when fully ripe. They have a rich, smoky , tangy flavour with moderate heat, and owing to their thin walls, they make an ideal pod for drying and grinding into powder.
The dried chilli powder is often mixed with a mixture of exotic spices that creates a unique spice blend that gives the spice blend its name, and is often the key ingredient to many meat and vegetable dishes.
