Description
These chilli peppers are one of the most popular chillies in Mexico, where it is often used as one of the three main peppers in Mole Negro Sauce. These large, meaty fruits have a mild heat and a sweet rich flavour.
The peppers start out dark green turning to red then a black red as they fully ripen.
In Mexico they are dried and used in their famous Mole Negro. Fresh, they can be used as an alternative to bell peppers in salads or general cooking.
Mulatos make excellent chilli powder, mild but with a rich sweet raisin flavour.
